| The
holy Sangam or the confluence at Allahabad
is the place wherethe mighty Ganga receives its tributaries,
the Yamuna and the mystical Saraswati. It is
a magnificient site to behold. The brownish water of
Ganga from a contrast with the blue flow of the Yamuna.
The Mughal fort on the water's edge is very picturesque.
Below its ramparts is the temple of Hanuman which gets
submerged every year as the Ganga expands. In
the months of January-February, the flood plain
is the venue of the annual Magh Mela. Every
twelve years the great fair of Kumbh
is held here (Allahabad).
